The thirty years of spearheading the fight against the HIV epidemic in the country has led to the deeper understanding that every organisation can make its own contribution to the AIDS response – based on its size, expertise, type of workforce, geographical range, financial strength and core capabilities. While models for HIV and AIDS partnerships are practically limitless, activities over the last three decades have often been more restricted towards involving organizations as opposed to individuals. Unlike most other diseases , HIV is different because it strikes people in the most productive age groups and is essentially 100% fatal if not adequately addressed. The economic effect of AIDS will be felt first by individuals and their families, then will ripple outwards to firms and businesses and the larger macroeconomy. Therefore, working with a strong organisation networks in the country, NACC has worked to promote partnerships among and between the diverse and broad range of both governmental and non-governmental entities. This nature of operation has over the years called for innovative ways of collaborating to facilitate increased capacity of both governmental and non-governmental partners to respond effectively to the epidemic at all levels. The major categories of partners engaged to date include the International Organisations, Public Sector, Private Sector, The Civil Society Organisations and Faith Based Organisations. Other emerging groups are Most At Risk Populations (MARPs) and the Youth.
